Holidays are never busy, let slow down at 4 must-visit parks in Bangkok

If you travel to Bangkok, you might feel it's the big city, too rush, too busy and too crazy. Let spare your free time to slow it down during holidays. Here are some famous parks where you can go and leave your exhausting there.

 

#Wachirabenchathat Park

Wachirabenchathat Park or state railway Public Park is one of the most famous public parks in Bangkok. In the past, this park was a golf coursed that belonged to State Railway of Thailand. Nowadays, it was transferred to be a park. For people who come to this park, you can rent the bicycle and ride around or rent a paddleboat to go around the lake. There is also a butterfly garden where people can learn Butterfly Life Cycle.

Open daily, Opening hour: 05.00 a.m.- 09.00 p.m.

Activities:

  • Picnic

  • Take a ride, price starts at 40 baht

  • Paddleboat (Adult 40 baht, Child 20 baht)

  • Exercising

  • Jogging around the park

Public Transportation: The nearest train spot is BTS Mochit station.

By bus from BTS Mochit: 3, 8, 26, 27, 28, 34, 38, 39, 44, 63, 90, 96, 104, 112, 134, 138, ปอ. 2, 3, 9, 10, 12, 13

By Taxi: from BTS Mochit approximately 60 baht

#Benchakiti Park

Benchakiti Park is a big park in the middle of the city with the lake. It is close to Queen Sirikit National  Convention Centre and MRT which is connected to BTS Asok station. For activities that you can do here are jogging, cycling and having paddleboat. It will be crowded in the evening after work. Lots of people will be here from the office nearby. The best time to visit should be in the evening. 

Open daily, Opening hour: 05.00 a.m.- 08.00 p.m.

  • Take a ride around the park

Public Transportation: The nearest train spot is Subway MRT Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre Station

By MRT: From Skytrain BTS Asok uses exit number 3 to transfer to subway MRT Sukhumvit Station, then take subway MRT to Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre Station and take the exit number 3. Benchakiti Park is located on the same side with Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre.

By Taxi: From BTS Asok Approximately 60 baht (without traffic)

#Lumpini Park

Lumpini Park is the first public park in Bangkok. It was built in the reign of King Rama 7 on the royal property. Name “Lumpini” was from the birthplace of Lord Buddha in Nepal. For the most activity which people will do is jogging around the park. There is a path for riding offered or rent a paddleboat and spin in the lake.

Open daily, Opening hour: 05.00 a.m. - 09.00 p.m.

Activities:

  • Chinese dancing
  • Jogging
  • Aerobic
  • Sports such as Rattan ball, Badminton, Ping-Pong and etc.
  • Picnic

Public Transportation: The nearest spots are Skytrain BTS Saladaeng station and Subway MRT Silom station.

By MRT: use exit at Silom station by gate number 1 or exit at Lumphini station by gate number 3.

#Saranrom Park

Saranrom Park is located opposite side of The Grand Palace. This park was built in the reign of King Rama 5, King Chulalongkorn on the advice of Henry Alabaster to build this park as a botanical garden. After the revolution by the government, King Rama 7 gave this park to government and changed it to the public park ever since.

Open daily, Opening hour: 05.00 a.m. - 09.00 p.m.

  • Pay homage to the divine shrine of this park
  • Jogging
  • Sport activity
  • Aerobic

Public Transportation: The nearest spot is N8 pier by Chao Phraya Express Boat.
