SEAFOOD PARADISE VILLAGE HOMESTAY, CBT Laem Glad

The 22-kilometer-long beach lying peacefully is waiting for travelers to visit. Fishery still remains as the way of living as always. In the sea not far from the shore, you can see Irrawaddy dolphins swimming alongside boats making the sea trip livelier. The waterfall, an indicator of abundance of an environment, is beautiful as well. This place, of course, is well-known for its fresh seafood, especially white clams which are regarded as the best in Thailand. This place is called Laem Glad.

 Activities and Experiences:

  • Seafood Signature Ingredient.

Hoi Khao or white clam is a signature of Laem Glad and becomes very popular, it is processed into various menus, such as deep-fried and herb roasted white clams.

  • Life of fishermen.
Most villagers are fishermen living in the fishing village at the estuary like their ancestors did. Although technology has been developed incessantly, it seems like people here in Laem Glad still enjoy their slow paced lives. Day after day, they head for the sea at the break of dawn and come back home when the sun is shining brightly in the sky.
Everybody is welcomed to join and experience a different way of living in Laem Glad where the people hang on their traditional lifestyle while facing a modern one. Depending on convenience and conditions, some visitors are happy by just observing things they have never seen, while some might want to be a part of it, that is, sailing, fishing, or even being a fisherman themselves.
  • Dolphin sightseeing.
There are small traditional fishing boats provided for a dolphin-watching boat trip. Each boat can carry 6 passengers and will be handled by a local professional fisherman. A dolphin watching spot is not far from the beach so it is completely safe for tourists. During November-April is the best period to see dolphins.
  • Leisurely stroll along the beach.
Laem Glad is also well-known for its soft white sand beaches which are Lan Sai Beach, really famous for its beauty and ivory sand, Muk Kaeo Beach, Sai Ngoen Beach, and Sai Kaeo Beach. These beautiful beaches stretching along Laem Glad are fairly peaceful and relaxing.
  • Laem Glad’s Waterfalls
Having different beauty on each floor and stream running through its jagged cliffs down to the plunge pool all year, this is Saphan Hin Waterfall. However, visitors should be extremely careful in the rainy season because of the fast-flowing stream. Nearby the waterfall, there are local shops providing food and beverage.

 Be Responsible:

This program will be a part that could be generated community development fund to do white clam preservation. Since it’s the bestseller, the villagers changed the pattern and method of collecting it in order to get as much as possible. However, some equipment is misused, such as clam rake or even a bulldozer! Such equipment will, of course, scoop everything up, both small and big clams.
