 MANGROVE VILLAGE HOMESTAY, CBT Baan Laem Makham

 

The mangrove village or Baan Laem Makham is a small village in Laem Ngop area where is a small port town approximately 17 kilometres southwest of Trat. There are a few ferry piers that a lt of people will be passed this village skip to the famous islands such as Koh Chang, Koh Kood and Koh Mak. But do not miss like anyone, here is a lot of things to stop and get the wonderful local experiences.

 
 

 Activities and Experiences:

  • Handicraft Palm Leaf Hat.

Learn how to craft palm leaf Hat which is the best community products. There are a lot of Nepa Palm Tree along the mangrove forest of the village. 

  • Local Museum House.

From one house in the village become local museum house, Master Somphot is the one that has been collected load of prints, paintings and photos about the history of the village, especially about uncommon event when The KING RAMA V have been visited this city in the past. 

  • Wat Laem Makham.
Wat Laem Makham is the temple of this village. The highlight is mural painting in the ordination hall about the temple's story. In the temple, there is located of Toh Walee or Muslim Holy Wood. The Muslim holy wood is one of the holy thing in Wat Laem Makham temple. Both Buddhism and Muslim people would come here to pray for goodness. 
  • Wooden Figures House.
At the Grandpa Songkran's house in Baan Laem Makham, he is eldery artisan who is falling in love in handicraft. He used to work as woodcraftsman before and he would like to present know-how about wood engraving tools to new generation by wooden figures. 
  • Lamp Shells Hunting Boat Trip.

Become local lamp shells hunters, local people to take you on foraging boat trip on the morning thru mangrove forest to the sea where you can try to find lamp shells (the water level is not too deep, around 1 meter depth). Also you can try to be crab hunter by night as well.

  • Black Sand Beach.

This Black Sand Beach is natural phenomenon technically called 'Limonite,' which is the mineral that is produced by a collapse of mine bits and shells with quartz until becoming a bizarre dark reddish brown to black beach. This beach is situated in a part of national preserved forest Lam Makham area surrounded by mangrove forest. Nowadays, 1-kilometer nature trails were built within this area. it's not only the only black-sanded beach in Thailand, but it's also 1 out of 5 black-sanded beaches in this world.
