Welcome to Homestay Baan Na Ton Chan, the small rural village located in Si Satchanalai district, Sukhothai Province. Staying in the village homestay, you can indulge in learning about local culture not just by being with the villagers, but also by seeing how locals live in a sustainable way.
On arrival day, you will have a warm welcome dinner and small Thai Baci ceremony with your home host.
Every day, you can follow and do everything with your home host who will show you the villager’s daily activities and lifestyle. Then you will learn the know-how and sufficient economy of Baan Na Ton Chan.
Activities and Experiences:
- Learn the delicate process of making the unique softly mud-soaked cloth:
Learn the mud – soaked textile, the OTOP (One Tambon One Product) is the main local product of Ban Na Ton Chan. A hand-woven textile developed with folk wisdom which has become a unique item identified with the place and inherited from ancient times by generations of textile weavers here.
- Visit Weaver’s houses:
The women in Baan Na Ton Chan will stay and work at their house, main job is weaving. You can visit some houses to see and learn the local weaving.
- Get to know "Ta Wong" and his local wisdom of wooden toy making:
Local Gymnastic Doll demonstration by Ta Wong (Ta means grandpa). Grandpa Wong has created the wooden gymnastic doll to be a hand exercise door for elders.
- Enjoy "Kao Perb" or Stream Rice Noodle, the famous local dish:
The signature menu of Baan Na Ton Chan is the rice flour streamed with soup. You can learn how to cook from local host and why not now to cook and enjoy your own Kao Perb.
- Bike ride to visit fruit orchards and beautiful rice paddy fields:
There are many kinds of fruit at Baan Na Ton Chan, since the location of Baan Na Ton Chan is abundance. The villagers plant all kind fruits that they can find such as durian, wollongong, orange and etc, you can walk around and try some seasonal fruits you like.
