WHAT IS A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE ?

On May 2022, SiamRise Travel became a social enterprise. This is an achievement in our goal to become a complete and true DMC specialized in Responsible tourism.

WHAT IS A SOCIAL ENTERPRISE ?

Social Enterprise is the business which has the aim tosolve the problem about social and the environment in long term by using business model combining with knowledge and creative innovation to create and grow the business while sustaining social and environment at the same time.

There were currently 148 registered social enterprise in Thailand, in February 2021.

THE CHARACTERISTIC OF SOCIAL ENTERPRISE

• Have a purpose to develop social and environment aspect.
• Apply its business model to sustainable business income.
• Eco-friendly (products, services, communication, ..).
• The return of profit to social and the aim of the company.
• The business should be transparent (impact report,…).

For traveler using the service of a social enterprise, it’s a strong statement. In fact, you require their services knowing that they leave positive impact in social aspect and bring sustainable vision through their actions. THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN NON-PROFIT AND FOR-PROFIT COMPANY

Their main difference is their incomes. A charity will have an income by the donation while a company will have its income by providing services or goods to consumers. Providing services will help the company to be stable and viable in long term.

As well, the purpose of the company is different. While a regular business goal is to get profit for the company itself, a social enterprise chose a purpose that affects social, environment and stakeholder in the society. To put it simply everyone can get benefit from the business.
