 AUTHENTIC KAREN FARMER VILLAGE HOMESTAY, CHIANG MAI

Chiang Mai is a land of mountains and colorful hill tribes, a paradise for travelers, especially for adventurers who love trekking and hiking. A trip in Chiang Mai can be expanded horizons with Thai massage, cooking classes, the variety of handicrafts workshops, lively nightlife, and the epicure can indulge in wonderful cuisine. Otherwise, you can immerse to learn and see more life of indigenous people with respectful by homestay experiences at AUTHENTIC KAREN FARMER VILLAGE HOMESTAY.
 

 Activities and Experiences:

DAY1: Chiang Mai – Doi Inthanon National Park – Karen Village (L,D)

After your breakfast then depart to Doi Inthanon National Park where the Thailand highest summit is and home of Karen communities. It is about 2 hours’ drive from Chiang Mai. Before your arrival to the village takes the short break at Wachiratarn waterfall to fresh up.
 
Afterward, continue our journey to the village where you will experience an authentic Karen farmer way of life.
 
Upon arrival in the village meet up with our local guide and enjoy your lunch of real Karen dishes.
 
This afternoon experience and observe the way of Karen farmer-led by our local guides such as rice pounding, bamboo weaving, Karen traditional clothes weaving and etc. At the end of the day meet your host family and take this opportunity to enjoy or learn how to cook Karen food with your host family.
 
After your dinner enjoys listening to a traditional Karen music and instrument “Te-Hna”.
 
Overnight: Simple and comfortable homestay, bedding and mosquito net are provided.
 

DAY2: Karen Village – Doi Inthanon Summit – Chiang Mai (B,L)

Freshly wake up and enjoy observing local way of life in the community. Breakfast is also served at your homestay. 
 
Afterward, be ready for the morning rice walking tour. Meet our local guide again and then start our walk journey to learn more about Karen farmer ritual ceremony that related to their rice-cultivation and so on. Many different kinds of bamboo weaving are used to represent and used in many different beliefs in their rice fields.
 
Then continue your walk to the beauty of rice-terraces and learn more about their use of rice-terraces includes water irrigation system, natural resources, and conservation.
 
Lunch: provided at the community center.
 
After lunch, say goodbye to our local guide then depart to visit the summit of Inthanon
mountain and the Royal Pagodas.
 
End of the day returns to Chiang Mai. Drop off at your hotel / free at leisure.

To engage and uplift farmer's capacity, sustain the local economy and increase skill and knowledge that enable to share real local wisdom, authenticity, farmer's culture and tradition with travelers at Karen community in Chiang Mai.
